Environmental Sustainability Strategy Released

At a town hall meeting focused on green initiatives, the campaign team released its Environmental Sustainability Strategy. The document details steps to tackle flooding, waste management, and carbon emissions in the coastal megacity.

A major highlight is the plan to transition waste management to a circular model, including building waste-to-energy plants that convert municipal solid waste into electrical energy to power local communities.

The strategy also aims to completely overhaul the state's drainage maintenance program, creating secondary drainage paths to mitigate seasonal flooding, and launching an ambitious urban greening project to plant 1 million trees by 2028.

'Lagos is on the frontline of climate change. We must act now to build resilience, clean our waterways, and ensure that our rapid economic growth does not come at the expense of our health and environment,' the campaign lead stated.
